Of course I can only speak for myself. But as therapists tell me, autism is the prevailing mindset for me. I think it is best demonstrated by giving examples. Here is one.

I worked as a volunteer for several years for a small group of people who needed assistance in several areas, including a technical one. I befriended - or at least I thought I did - another technically minded person within that group. I borrowed an electric converter from him. That is, he said that he would like it...

After years of service my volunteerwork has ended this summer. Not in a pleasant way. Which is supposed to be entirely my fault.

According to one of the boardmembers I had difficulty in finding my place right from the start. It did feel like that in the beginning and the end, but not so much in the years in between. This last year I found the chair person was actively seeking to deminish my role and extend hers. This led to so much confusion with me, that I started a discussion about...

For years now I've had an inflateable spa. I set it up in the spring when temperatures reach values well over 25 degrees Celcius. I'm not a fan of hot weahter. I need to cool down in order to function normally. This spa is great for that purpose.
I started using the spa for the bubbles. I'd set the water temperature in the high 30s and relax. It soon became something of a must to stay in the spa long enough for the timer on the bubble blower to run out. That takes something like 20 minutes. I...

I made an error, lately. And I feel sick to my stomach about it.
The facts.
The past months the shower had trouble keeping at the temperature set on the thermostatic faucet. It went colder, and when adjusting for that on the temperature rotary knob it did so again. This seemed to me to be either a problem of the combi boiler or the thermostatic faucet. Since we had problems with that in the past, I decided to replace it with a brand new one. That however did not solve the problem. So I called...

It's just like riding a bike. That's what I thought would be the case with the ACT-training I got. ACT being Acceptance Commitment Therapy. It had been something like a year and a half ago that I had that training. At first it seemed to work. But it didn't ake long for me to display behavior similar to what I had been doing before the training. My therapist was quick to remind me of the relevant exercises I had done during the training, to keep me on the right path.

Since then I have had...

This is going to be of a sexual nature. So if you don't like subjects like that, please do not read on.

As every guy, I have had night time erections. Lately I have been having them since I stopped taking medication which dampened my libido considerably (though not for that reason). Let's put that aside for a moment.
Another point is my waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to go to sleep again. After having laid awake for some time, I get up and watch tv. During...

In my youth I have often heard people — especially women – call me "such a nice boy". When you're an adolescent, that's not the reaction you want. You don't want to be labeled "nice" by mothers of girls you would like to have sex with.
Apart from that, even my mother said to a friend of hers that I was too nice. Meaning that I could be more courteous to people than they would be towards me.

I believed the adage that one's freedom ends where someone else's begins. But the reason why I...

I'll never be a star
I'll never feel the breath of angels
however near or far
I'll never hear a song of praise
to listen to alone
and after my demise they'll just say
well, at last he's gone

so lonesome is the life I lead
so desperate the trail
that though my body functions some
my state is very frail
I hear the voice of reason and
I hear my madness too
I tell them to my therapist

I see remarkable efforts

To demonstrate that autism isn't only a problem, but can also give rise to remarkable intelligence, some people have been named as supposedly being autistic. Among them for instance Marie Curie, Albert Einstein, Alexander Graham Bell, Thomas Edison, Vincent Van Gogh, Andy Warhol, Virginia Woolf, Bob Dylan, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg and Dan Aykroyd. The latter actually got diagnosed as such, the others are supposed to have been autistic in some way. I would like to add another famous...

Maybe I'm getting this nudist thing all wrong. But I'm having trouble keeping nakedness and sex apart.

Quite some time ago, when I was in a short lived relationship with an easy going girl, I startedf having my reservations about walking around naked in the house. I don't think anybody could see us, it was summer and we did have sex the night before, so at the time it seemed not very out of place to be nudistic that morning. But as we walked around naked, I started wondering whether that...
